If you didn’t know my history yet, I’ll keep it short – let me know in the comments if you’d like a dedicated post about my ED recovery – but essentially, I’m sure like many of you throughout my teenage years I struggled with body dysmorphia, which led to disordered eating. Little did I know as I fought my way through recovery and body acceptance that one day it would be the inspiration behind my body care brand, Saltair.
One of the most important lessons I learnt on my journey to self-love was that every time I let my insecurities control my decisions or actions, I disallowed myself to enjoy the freedom of being present and enjoying all life has to offer.
From a life of worrying about every calorie consumed, to seeing exercise as punishment for eating those calories, choosing recovery is choosing freedom. As I slowly let go of insecurities that society had projected upon me – from the ideal beach body to what a successful model looks like – it gave me the ability to fully embrace all the beautiful moments in life.
One of the most magical things was standing on the beach in whatever bikini I wanted to wear, not worrying about what anyone else thought, and instead focusing on the smell of the salty air, the sun on my skin, the sand between my toes, and the sound of the ocean waves crashing.
Instead of insecurity I felt peace and belonging. I began feeding my soul with more of those moments and reminding myself that being alive is a gift and being in this body is a gift.
Treating my body like a gift also led me to take care of it from the inside out, learning about exercise, nutrition and body care products. And I became intentional about creating self-care rituals of using products that felt luxurious, smelt delicious, and gave me moments of connection with my body.
As my love of products grew, I saw that there was still a lack of sustainably packaged, aesthetic, high performing skincare for your body, especially at an affordable price point. And unfortunately most of the wellness industry remains exclusive and elitist, but I decided it was time to create a brand to revolutionize it.
That is how Saltair was born. After years of development we launched January 2022 and I cannot believe how much we’ve accomplished already because it feels like we’re just getting started! Watch this video to learn a little more about Saltair: https://youtu.be/JDp1vx07QII
Let me know if you’ve tried any of our Saltair products or if you’d like more stories behind each of our launches.
So grateful for all your support and amazing reviews – it truly means the world to me and the team.
Lots of love,
